IndyCar visited the city of Toronto for the Honda Indy Toronto doubleheader but the weekend was dampened by rain. Showers visited Toronto on Saturday, the original day of Race 1, causing an almost three-hour rain delay that turned into a race cancellation. The first race was then rescheduled to Sunday morning, which left a short five hours between the two races. Due to time constraints, the races were shortened down to 65 laps or 80 minutes, with Race 1 having a rolling start and Race 2 having a standing start.

After the first race of the day finally went green, the red flag was brought out on the first lap due to a multiple-car accident. Simon Pagenaud was spun in turn four by Luca Filippi, with the incident collecting the cars of Josef Newgarden, Carlos Munoz, Takuma Sato, and Mike Conway. The race went back to yellow on lap 2, then went green on lap 4. The second and final yellow of Race 1 came on lap 17, when Luca Filippi slowed on course after making contact with the wall, while Carlos Huertas made contact with the tire barrier in turn 3. Sebastien Bourdais, who was the polesitter for Race 1, lead much of the race and at one point had expanded his lead up to four and a half seconds over Helio Castroneves. Bourdais went on to win the race, earning his first victory since 2007. Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, Simon Pagenaud, and Scott Dixon rounded out the top five.

As with Race 1, Race 2 saw a first lap caution when Justin Wilson stalled on the front stretch after the standing start and Tony Kanaan nearly hit the tire barrier in turn 3 after overshooting the turn. The race was able to return to green flag racing on lap 4. That didn’t last long as eight laps later, there was another full course yellow. Juan Pablo Montoya made contact with the tires in turn 8. Mikhail Aleshin, who was coming around the corner, slid underneath Montoya in a scary-looking accident. Both drivers were uninjured. Lap 24 then saw the start of a quick series of yellows for debris and several drivers making contact with the tire barrier in turns 8 and 3. The last caution of the day came on lap 51 when there was a multiple car accident in turn 3. Race officials then red flagged the race on lap 52, as there were four and a half minutes remaining on the timer. The race went back to green with two laps to go, and Mike Conway was able to take his second win of the year and the third win of the year for Ed Carpenter Racing. Tony Kanaan, Will Power, Charlie Kimball, and Takuma Sato rounded out the top five.
